Medium-size Monstera leaves under shade cloth   The foliage farm includes about 10,000 ti plants, plus assorted monstera, song of india, song of Jamaica, bird of paradise, areca palm, phoenix palm, queen sago palm (cycads), dracena and sheffelera, as well as Manila palms and Chinese fan palms and bromeliads. Foliage leaves and stems are sold to florists and flower packers for export, and some palms and flowering plants are sold locally. The farm is a "growing" business.   (Click on thumbnail picture for enlarged view.)   An orchard of mature, bearing fruit trees includes breadfruit (Samoan ulu), avocado (3 varieties, bearing about 8 months of the year), ruby grapefruit, tangelo, navel orange, starfruit (carambola), sapote, bananas (Chinese, Cuban red, and cooking bananas), Tahitian lime, kumquat, lemon and papaya, as well as about two hundred white pineapple plants. And, of course, wild guavas grow all over the place.
